Watching The Skies Severe (SVR) Weather Guide

Watching The Skies uses custom terms for a few things in severe weather. Here is the definition for our forecasts and discussions. TORNADO:

Strong: EF2+

Intense: EF3+

Violent: EF4-EF5

HAIL:

Small: Generally within the 0.25-0.0.74” range

Marginally severe: 0.75-0.99”

Severe: 1”-1.99”

Significantly severe: 2.” - 2.49” Giant: 2.5” - 4”

Extremely giant: Over 4”

WIND:

Gusty: Below 40 MPH

Strong: 41-59 MPH

Severe: 60-75 MPH

Significantly severe: 76-89 MPH

Intense: 90-110 MPH

Life-threatening: 111+ MPH
